When using Microsoft Office Picture Manager, you might have the issue that it becomes very slow to open. This is one of the most popular issues of this Office tool.
Microsoft Office Picture Manager
Picture Manager maintains a Most Recently Used (MRU) list of the locations of files you’ve most recently opened with it. In some cases, especially when the file is on a network place, if the file is not at the location specified in the MRU list, Picture Manager has to search for it and it takes a long time to finish. This is the reason which causes the tool to start up very slowly.
To solve this problem, we will clear the MRU list of Microsoft Office Picture Manager. The MRU list is stored in a file called OISCatalog.cag located in
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OIS
Microsoft Office Picture Manager MRU list links to a location on network drive
When you find the file, follow these steps:
1. Open the OISCatalog.cag with Notepad.
2. Delete all lines that start with “<mru path”.
3. Save and close the file.
You’ve done! Have fun!
